Welcome to the Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Humanity. We are a dedicated community of volunteers united by a shared passion for service, leadership, and making a lasting humanitarian impact.

Our Story: From a Dream to Reality

The foundation of our club began over a decade ago with a vision held close by Businessman. It was a dream centered around collective service and community uplifting. That long-term vision transformed into a tangible mission when he partnered with Lion Anil Kumar Kalva to bring the concept to life.

What followed was a focused 2-to-3-month period of intense planning, collaboration, and numerous foundational meetings held at Talk of the Town and Soulmeet. By January 2026, the blueprint for the club was presented to District Governor Manish Chavda / 2025-2026.

Overcoming Hurdles, Building Leadership

Establishing a new club comes with its challenges. During our registration phase, we faced significant structural and leadership hurdles. However, true to the Lions spirit, we looked for creative solutions.

To guide our new chapter with strength and vision, we approached Lion Sharmin Virji to take on the crucial role of Charter President. Though she initially hesitated on several occasions, her dedication to the community ultimately prevailed. With her leadership secured, our journey officially culminated in March 2026 with the formal establishment of the Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Humanity, launching proudly with 31 dedicated Charter Members.

Expanding Our Footprint: Sponsoring Lions Club of Zanzibar Stone Town

Our commitment to growth and service didn’t stop at our own inception. Within just a month or two of chartering, Lion Anil Kalva and Lion Sharming Virji utilized there network to plant the seeds for expansion. Following a series of telephonic discussions and physical meetings held at Aura Suites with Mr. Dipak Joshi, a breakthrough was achieved. Within a single week, confirmation arrived from Zanzibar that a branch club was ready to form with an initial 7 members.

The momentum quickly accelerated. Following the official approval of the branch, Dr. Ameesh Mehta inquired with our Charter President Sharmin Virji about the requirements to transition the branch into a fully independent, chartered club. Demonstrating remarkable speed and leadership, the local team brought in 33 members in just one week to establish a full-fledged charter club.

Thanks to the instrumental efforts of three key individuals—Mr. Dipak Joshi, Dr. Ameesh Mehta, and Mr. Vishu Malamal—the Lions Club of Zanzibar Stone Town was officially formed.
